Where are you located?

343 Medford Street, Somerville MA 02145. I'm on the 2nd floor. For a map & detailed pics of the street & building, click on the ADDRESS tab above. Call Eric at 603-283-8039 when you arrive. If you require a parking pass I will meet you outside.

How can I make an appointment?

Click on the "Groupon Class Schedule" tab above & follow the link on that page to Google calendars to choose an appointment. Since I sold 400 lessons it's better for scheduling if everyone chooses a single time slot that works best in the 8 month Groupon period. Please anylize both you & your partners schedules & pick what works best *If something comes up & you need to change your appointment date & or time....please give 48 hours notice to reschedule.

What if I need to reschedule?

Please give 48 hours notice to reschedule by either emailing Eric at eduyette@gmail.com - or Cell 603-283-8039* Your Groupon will not be honored at Monadnock Glass Arts if you do not give 48 hours notice to reschedule or you completely miss your appointment. If this happens please contact Groupon's customer support line at (877) 788-7858 to inquire about a credit.

Where should I park?

There are 2 hour parking spots located around the studio on both Medford & Pearl Street. Since classes are 3 hours long they can be used but with the understanding you may need to move spots to avoid a ticket.(They ticket very rarely in the 2 hour limit spots). But to make it convenient for all I have 2 visitor parking passes that can be used in surrounding permit parking only spots. Please call Eric at 603-283-8039 when you Arrive & I can meet you outside to give you the visitor pass. Try to arrive 15 minutes early to allow for parking & getting into the studio. *Carpooling is recommended*

What should I wear?

My studio is heated so layers to remove are a good idea after coming in from the cold. Close toed shoes are a must(No Flip Flops/Sandals). Cotton clothes work best(Avoid melt-able highly flammable clothes like polyester or poofy wool sweaters). I recommend jeans & a cotton hoodie...along those lines. *Clothes that you don't mind getting dirty*

What should I bring with me?

Bring your printed Groupon or have it ready to pull up on your phone for scanning. Also bring something to drink & a snack of your liking.

What kinds of things do you make?

I work with Pyrex/borosilicate glass so the possibilities are nearly endless. I create sculptural animals, creatures & sea life, marbles, beads, rings, ornaments, jars, glassware, pendants, paperweights, trees, shot glasses, ashtrays & much much more. Currently I create a variety of over a 100 different styles of pieces.

Do you offer advanced classes?

I will offer advanced classes to those who have taken my introduction to Borosilicate class 1st. Once the Schedule is set for all the Groupon buyers, the advanced class can be arranged in available open time slots.

What is the minimum age for taking a class?

The minimum age requirement is 13 yrs old to take the class. All students under 18 must be accompanied by a parent. The class space is limited to 2 students per session.

What is included with the 3 hour class for two?

The class includes all glass & supplies needed during the 3 hour session for two(Color is limited to a fair amount per student). All finished products by the students can be picked up at a later date. Shipping is available for a fee*

Is there a risk of injury?

Glassblowing is fairly safe. I give a quick lesson on proper safety in the shop. Although it is not expected, minor burns or cuts can occur on a rare occasion. In case this happens, my studio is properly equipped.

What will I learn & be able to make?

The class will start with a brief discussion about safety & the equipment. Then I will give a short demo on the basics of flameworking(Welding, gravity & hand control, & color stretching). Following that I will do a quick demo to show you all the steps needed to create a finished work of art such as(Beads, pendants, marbles, ornaments & smaller more manageable items for beginners). The class will allow for hours of torch time with brief tutorials & demo's to help the students understand the process of flameworking better. *Future classes will focus on more in depth lessons such as surface work, patterns, working with larger tubing to make bigger items.

Can I purchase finished or custom made pieces?

I enjoy making custom glass pieces for my students & customers. Feel free to bring along a checkbook or cash if you have something in mind you'd like to have me create.
